Homework help
The tutor does not do the work for the student: they help them start it and finish it.
- Who it is for: the student who puts homework off or gives up quickly.
- In session: we open the agenda, hardest task first.
Ongoing academic support
A weekly appointment with the same tutor, to make the material stick week after week.
- Who it is for: the student who slips as soon as a chapter gets demanding.
- In session: a look back at the last class, then a step into the next one.
Catch-up tutoring
Catching up starts with a diagnosis: we look for the concept where understanding stopped, then build back up from there.

- In session: we repair the base, then apply it to today’s exercises.
Enrichment
For the student who already does well and is bored: harder problems, math contests, writing projects.

Exam prep
End-of-term tests, June exams, ministry exams. Not a last-minute review: a calendar and practice exams.

Admission tests
Private schools, the International Education Program, limited-enrolment programs. The format matters as much as the subject.

- In session: we practise the format. No admission can be guaranteed.
Study skills and organization
Some students understand the material and lose their marks elsewhere: an empty agenda, notes nobody can read, studying the night before.
- Who it is for: the student with an intervention plan, with ADHD, or who was never taught how to study.
- In session: taking notes, planning the week, active recall.
Levels we cover
From elementary school to Cégep
We work with students at 3 levels: elementary school, Secondary 1 to 5, Cégep. What changes from one to the next is not only the material — it is how much independence the student is expected to have.
Elementary school
Reading, writing, solving problems. An elementary tutor starts by giving the student back the right to be wrong.
- Shorter sessions, concrete examples, a change of pace every few minutes.
- The parent stays within earshot for the first few times.
Secondary 1 to 5
One teacher per subject and exams that carry real weight. A high school tutor works on the material and on independence at the same time.
- Mathematics CST, TS or SN: we follow the sequence your child is actually in.
- Preparation for the Secondary 4 and Secondary 5 ministry exams.
Cégep
Short semesters and courses that filter. After a first midterm goes badly, there are not many weeks left.
- Work on the course outline and on past exams.
- More intensive sessions before midterms and finals.

The subjects we cover
The subjects on offer: Mathematics, French, English, Science, Chemistry, Physics, History. Each card names the Quebec courses behind the subject.
Mathematics
A math tutor works from the student’s real course: their exercises, their marked exams.
- Elementary school: operations, fractions, word problems.
- Secondary: algebra, functions, the CST, TS and SN sequences.
- Cégep: differential calculus, integral calculus, linear algebra.
French
A French tutor covers reading, writing and speaking. Marks are most often lost on structure.
- Elementary school: reading comprehension, dictation, agreement rules.
- Secondary: grammar, the argumentative text, the Secondary 5 uniform writing exam.
- Cégep: literary analysis and the French exit exam (épreuve uniforme).
English
English Language Arts in the English school network, English as a second language in the French one. Speaking counts as much as writing.
- Reading comprehension and listening tasks.
- Structured writing and vocabulary that actually gets used.
- Guided conversation for the student who does not dare speak up.
Science
Science and Technology from Secondary 1 to Secondary 3, then ST and EST in Secondary 4.
- Material world, living world, earth and space, technology.
- Method: data, formula, units, then a written answer.

Chemistry and physics
The two Secondary 5 optional courses and what follows at Cégep. Every chapter leans on the one before it.

History
A subject where marks go missing for lack of method more than for lack of talent.

How a session runs
An online session, minute by minute
Does it really work through a screen? Here is what happens.

Before the session
A link by email, one click, no software to buy. The camera stays on: seeing the student is how the tutor knows whether the explanation landed.
What to have ready: notebook, class notes, the last marked exam.

The first few minutes
The tutor asks what has happened since last time, then says the goal for today out loud.
One goal per session, in the student’s own words.

The heart of the session
A short explanation, then an exercise the student works through while the tutor watches. The shared whiteboard lets both of them write.
The session is one-on-one: nobody sits quietly for forty minutes.

The last few minutes
The student redoes a full problem alone, to check that the idea holds without help. If it does not, it comes back next session.
What is not solid yet is said plainly.

After the session
The parent gets a short summary: what was worked on, what is going well, what is still fragile.
Progress shows up somewhere other than the report card.
Two formats
Online first, in your home where we can
Online tutoring is our main offering: it is what lets us give every family the same tutors, at the same hours, right across Greater Montreal. In-home comes second, for families who prefer it.

- No travel, no traffic delays, and the choice of tutor does not depend on your postal code. The student joins the room through a link, with a shared whiteboard and their own documents on screen. This is the format we recommend, and the one the section above describes.
- In your home — on request, when a tutor can travel
- Some families would rather have the tutor at the kitchen table: often in elementary school, or when a student works poorly alone in front of a screen. We offer it when a tutor can travel to your home. Mention it in your request: we confirm availability and the rate before any commitment.

How we choose the tutor
The right tutor is not the one with the most degrees: it is the one your child listens to.

You describe the situation
Subject, level, city and what is going wrong, in your own words: “he gets stuck on fractions”, “she freezes during exams”.
A few minutes is enough.

A call with an advisor
We look for what the form does not say: the student’s character, what has already been tried, an intervention plan.
Nothing is committed at this stage.

We look for the right tutor
Three criteria, in this order: command of the subject at the level requested, experience with this kind of student, then personality.
Every tutor goes through an interview, provides their diplomas and submits a criminal record check.

First session and validation
You meet the tutor we propose, then we ask what you think — and above all what the student thinks.
The learning plan is written after that meeting.

If it does not click, we change
You do not have to justify anything. We start the search again with what the first attempt taught us.
The new tutor receives the session notes.
Pricing
Starting rates posted, an exact amount before you begin
Online: from $40 an hour in elementary and secondary, and from $50 at Cégep. In your home, when a tutor can travel to you: from $45 an hour in elementary and secondary, and from $55 at Cégep, with no separate travel fee. The exact amount also depends on the subject and the frequency: we confirm it in writing before the first session.
Single session
A one-off need: an exam coming up, a chapter to unblock.

The first 30 minutes of the first session are not billed. You receive a written proposal before you begin: rate, length, frequency and how to stop. The quote is free, and no package is compulsory.
Frequently asked questions
What people ask us before starting
How many sessions before we see a difference?
It depends on the size of the gap. One meeting a week is often enough to settle homework night. After a failed term, expect several weeks. We give you an estimate after the first meeting.
What happens if my child misses a session?
Let us know ahead of time and the session is moved. A last-minute cancellation may be billed: the tutor held that slot. The exact rule is given to you in writing.
What equipment is needed for an online session?
A computer or tablet with a camera, a decent connection, headphones and the course material. No software to buy: you click a link.
Can we sign up two children?
Yes. Each child gets their own session and, often, their own tutor: what an elementary student needs and what a Secondary 4 student needs have nothing in common.
Do you prepare students for the ministry exams?
Yes: the Secondary 5 uniform writing exam, the Secondary 4 mathematics and Science and Technology exams, History of Quebec and Canada. We work from ministry-style questions.
Do we have to commit for the whole year?
No. You book the sessions you need and you stop once the goal is met. We would rather tell you a series of sessions is finished than stretch out a package.
